Art City

Art City is a safe place for participants of all ages and abilities. Our regular programs operate on an ongoing, drop in basis throughout the year. Everyone is welcome, free-of-charge.

Drop-in Studio: Monday to Friday 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Art City facilitates art workshops in a wide variety of media, frequently featuring guest artists from Winnipeg, across Canada, and around the world! Mediums, themes, and guest artists change from week to week throughout the year. For more information, please see our calendar.

Digital Photography: Mondays 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Participants are able to work one on one or in small groups with our instructors to learn how to operate a digital camera, take digital photographs, then manipulate the images on a computer. Cameras and equipment are supplied. Free for all ages.

Digital Art: Wednesdays 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Participants are able to work one on one or in small groups with our instructor to learn how to use Adobe Creative and Production Suites to create illustrations, animation, video, web pages, and much more. Participants can also learn to compose and record their own music using Garageband, Reason, Logic, Pure Data and more! Computers and equipment are supplied. Free for all ages.

Photography: Wednesdays 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A traditional black and white photography program in which participants work one on one or in small groups with our instructor to learn how to use a film camera, develop film, make prints in our darkroom, and more. Cameras, film and equipment are supplied. Free for all ages.

Pottery

Teen Pottery (Ages 13 to 17): Mondays 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Adult Pottery (Ages 18 and up): Tuesdays 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Kids Pottery (Ages 12 and under): Thursdays 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Learn how to work with clay to create slab built tiles and boxes, and how to throw on the pottery wheel to create functional bowls, cups, or anything you can imagine! Our instructor demonstrates a new technique each week, including figure sculpting, slip casting, and mold making. All work is fired on site in our electric kiln. Participants are able to take home anything they make! Clay, tools, equipment, and glazes are supplied. All pottery programs are free of charge.

Off-Site Programming and Special Events

Art City provides art facilitation for off-site programming and special events for community agencies, organizations, and schools. Programming is available in a wide variety of art media. There is a fee for these workshops.
